About us

I am María Goya

I’m María Goya, an obstetrician and gynecologist.

My work focuses primarily on supporting you throughout your pregnancy, especially in cases requiring more personalized and specialized care. I combine medical rigor, clinical experience, and a warm and caring approach.

From the very beginning, my goal is for you to feel heard, understood, and safe. Each appointment is an opportunity to address your questions, support your decisions, and offer care tailored to both your clinical and personal needs throughout your pregnancy.

In addition to obstetric care, I also support women during their gynecological journey, offering checkups and personalized guidance at different stages of life.

My approach extends beyond pregnancy and childbirth: I understand postpartum cardiovascular health as a fundamental part of comprehensive women’s care, with a long-term perspective that continues even after the baby’s birth.

I trained in Medicine at the University of La Laguna and completed my residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Maternal and Child Hospital of the Canary Islands. Subsequently, I completed a Fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Canada, where I consolidated my expertise in complex pregnancies and situations requiring more specialized obstetric care.

I completed my doctoral thesis at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, deepening my knowledge in the field of maternal-fetal medicine and strengthening my scientific and clinical approach to pregnancy care.

I currently practice in Barcelona, where I offer specialized obstetric consultations and gynecological care, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, safe, and personalized care for each woman.

Clinical approach

My practice is based on personalized follow-up and evidence-based medicine, especially in situations that advise more careful monitoring during pregnancy, such as:

  • Pregnancies requiring closer monitoring
  • Diabetes during pregnancy
  • Hypertensive disorders and preeclampsia
  • Multiple pregnancies
  • Other maternal conditions requiring specialized obstetric care

Gynecological care and monitoring of cardiovascular health after childbirth are part of a comprehensive vision of women’s well-being, focused not only on pregnancy, but also on their present and future health.

Teaching and research

In addition to clinical practice, I am a principal investigator in maternal-fetal medicine at Vall d’Hebron Hospital Barcelona Hospital Campus and an associate professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

Research and teaching are integral to my approach to medicine: they allow me to integrate the latest scientific knowledge into daily practice and contribute to the training of future professionals.

I work to ensure that every check, every decision, and every explanation is clear and reassuring, leaving no room for unnecessary doubt.
